Constant I 0 I - Advisory Board
Last week we shared our plans for Constant 1 0 1. We are happy and proud to announce the Advisory Board of the project. From now till the roll-out of the project they will reflect on the plans and content from their field of expertise.
Without further ado:
Robert van Altena is an art critic and radio maker. Since 2010 he has been making Springvossen (AmsterdamFM), his longest running radio program. In addition, he makes series of public conversations such as Gesprek van het Hart (OW). On occasion he acts as a guest curator. With curator Bérangère Armand, for example, he made the exhibition New Beauties (2019) for Le 109. Forum d’Urbanisme et d’Architecture (Nice, F). In 2017 he wrote the book The Fifth Line with painter Steven Aalders on the basis of conversations he had with Steven Aalders about art, in particular abstract painting and its relationship to the world.
Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos set up UNStudio, an architectural practice in Amsterdam, in 1988. UNStudio presents itself as a network of specialists in architecture, urban development and infrastructure. Ben van Berkel has lectured and taught at many architectural schools around the world. Currently he holds the Kenzo Tange Visiting Professor's Chair at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. In 2018 he founded UNSense, an Arch Tech company based in Amsterdam that designs and integrates human-centric tech solutions for the built environment.
Fiep van Bodegom is editor of literary magazine De Gids and literature reviewer for De Groene Amsterdammer. She has published essays, translations and (speculative) fiction.
Jannet de Goede is Head of presentation at the Kröller-Müller Museum. Previously she was curator of the Kunsthal Rotterdam, curator of exhibitions in the Stadsgalerij Heerlen, now Schunck Museum, and curator of the Caldic Collection, now Museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar. She made the exhibitions Imagine you are standing here in front of me (Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, 2002), Vademen (City Gallery, 2005), and in the Kunsthal: Leve de Schilderkunst (2006), Everything is moving! Jean Tinguely (2007), Between You and Me. Antony Gormley (2008), I Promise To Love You. Caldic Collection (2011) and The Political Line. Keith Haring (2015). In the Kröller-Müller Museum she realized, among other things, Nature based (2016), Arp: The Poetry of Forms (2017), Oversprong (2018) and The beginning of a new world (2019).
Machteld Kors is the Director of Communications at UNStudio. She studied the History of Art, with a specialization in Contemporary Architecture at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. In 1998, she joined UNStudio and worked with Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos on the publication of their architectural theories and projects, coordinating several international exhibitions for UNStudio. In 2011, Machteld joined UNStudio's Board of Directors. As Director of Communications, she coordinates a multidisciplinary, international and growing team, overseeing the studio’s business development, PR activities, digital communication, internal knowledge sharing and new business ventures. In 2018, Machteld played a key role in launching and developing UNStudio’s sister Arch Tech company, UNSense.
Marcel Hummelink is a history teacher at Stedelijk Gymnasium Haarlem. Marcel wrote his dissertation Après nous la liberté | Constant and the artistic avant-garde in the years 1946-1960. In 2016, the Cobra Museum of Modern Art created the exhibition Constant: space + color based on a concept by Marcel and Ludo van Halem for the Rijksmuseum Twenthe. Until today, Marcel remains interested in Constant, his work and texts.
