Constants last work. He signed the work in 2004 and then started working on it again. In the documentary Constant, avant le départ he says when he visits his studio for the last time: A last look at my last painting. I'm finished with this painting. The next person working on this will be the restorer.
Dutch: Een laatste blik op mijn laatste schilderij. Ik hoef hier niets meer aan te doen. De volgende hand is van de restaurator.

Le piège

Le dernier rêve
A friend on her deathbed.

Les baigneurs
Inspired by the Mediterranean in Antibes, south of France.
Les enfants perdus

Les expulsés
Inspired by the events in Kosovo. On April 12, 1999 Time Magazine printed a powerful cover photo by photographer Damir Sagolj of refugees from Kosovo with a woman with a white head scarf and a baby at her breast in front. It may have been this image that inspired Constant to paint Les éxpulsés. When you look at the original photo the white head scarf, the coloroud clothes in the middle of the line of people and the curved bend of the line of refugees are mirrored in Constants painting.

Die Krähe
The Crow is one of the 24 songs from Winterreise by Franz Schubert. It's a tribute to the poet Wilhelm Müller on whose poems Winterreise is based. On the back of the painting is says gewidmet Wilhelm Müller (dedicated to Wilhem Müller).
