<p><em>Le Barricade</em> at the entrance of the Cobra exhibition, <em>Internationale Tentoonstelling van Experimentele Kunst </em>at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam from 03-28 November 1949. Constant painted this very large painting of 372 by 300 cm<em> </em>on location just before the opening of the exhibition. Eugene Brands and Karel Appel also painted large scale paintings on location, specially for the exhibition.</p>
