-        'Wat is burgerlijk aan angst?'
-        The word 'burgerlijke is crossed out three times on this page. 
-        In the following text 'de noodzaak voelde' is underlined: 'Zolang het kapitalistiese systeem de noodzaak voelde zijn eigen angst uit te beelden (...) kon de ideologie de kloof overbruggen tussen de postulaten van de burgerlijke ethiek en het rijk van de Noodzakelijkheid.
The part that is underlined is commented upon by Constant in the following way: 'Een systeem voelt niet en heeft geen angst.'

-        Comment upon the phrasing ‘burgelijke intellektueel’: ‘Andere intellectuelen zijn er nog niet!’
-        In the margin of the second paragraph a question mark is placed and: ‘Wat een taal!’ is written.

-        Parts of the text in the last paragraph, namely: ‘We weten echter niet’ and ‘Wat vaststaat’, are underlined. Next to the paragraph ‘waarom’ and a question mark are written. However, Constant’s comment could also refer to the second footnote. This footnote is connected to the question mark by an arrow. 
p. 20: 
-        Part of the text, namely: ‘Gaan wij ervan uit’ is underlined and ‘daar gaan we dus NIET van uit!’ is written. The full sentence Constant objects to is: ‘Gaan wij ervan uit dat de stad voor de theoretici van de achttiende eeuw op hetzelfde formele nivo ligt als de schilderkunst, dan wordt met de begrippen selektiviteit en kriticisme in de stedenbouw een fragmentisme geïntroduceerd dat niet alleen Natuur en Rede, maar ook natuurlijk en stedelijk fragment als gelijkwaardig aan elkaar beschouwt.
