Monument voor de wederopbouw (Monument for the Reconstruction) was a temporary installation on the ground of E55 in Rotterdam. On May 18, 1955, Queen Juliana gave a speech at the opening of the E55 exhibition in Rotterdam, in which she expressed gratitude for the progress made in the ten years since the Second World War and the North Sea Flood of 1953. The exhibition, also known as the National Energy Event, aimed to showcase the Dutch people's industriousness and zest for life as they rebuilt their country.
Besides Constant's installation, the exhibition featured works by several prominent artists, including Karel Appel and Wim Crouwel, together celebrating the nation's progress, spirit and potential for continued growth and development.
