Mijn Derde Land
CID

"...Ik heb om aan dit noodlot te ontkomen,
Een derde land verzonnen in mijn hoofd,
Een land vertrouwd met leugens en fantomen..."
I have to escape this fate,
A third country made up in my head,
A country familiar with lies and phantoms
In the exhibition My Third Country we travel to a country that exists between imagination and reality: an imaginary destination as a refuge for contemporary people. The starting point is the poem 'Counterweight' by Gerrit Komrij.
Is the 21st century person a stowaway? Displaced from the place he comes from and alienated from the place he is? Now that globalization is a fact, geographically limited places are no longer the basis for identity. Where are we still at home? With this question in mind, the artists in the exhibition shape the Third Country that Komrij wrote about, armed with one of the few things we still carry with us today: our own imagination.
International group exhibition exploring the journey that exists between imagination and reality.
